Levelset2 is a demolition contractor serving Summerton and the east side of South Carolina. We take down houses, mobile homes, outbuildings and storm-damaged structures. We break out slabs and foundations too, and debris removal is part of the job. You get a free written quote before any work starts.
After the hurricanes, Hurricane Florence among them, we took down flooded homes as a subcontractor on recovery work. New homes went up in their place. Septic systems are our main work today. When a new home is planned, we can follow the tear-down with lot clearing and septic system installation.

It starts with a call or text to (803) 478-2620 and a look at the structure and the lot. We check the machine access and where the septic tank and any buried lines sit. Then you get a free written quote that spells out what comes down and what leaves the lot. SCDES, the state environmental agency that was formerly DHEC, encourages saving reusable items like cabinets, doors, lumber or brick.
Before demolition day, the power and gas have to be disconnected, and you set that up with each utility. We call SC 811 at least three full working days ahead, as state law requires before any demolition. SC 811 does not mark private lines, such as a well line, so tell us where yours run. We also check whether the asbestos rules apply before the tear-down.
On demolition day, the structure comes down by machine and the debris is loaded out. SCDES notes that structural burns are prohibited under the state's open burning rules. Loads leave the lot secured, bound for a landfill or recycler that takes construction and demolition debris. The slab and footings come out too when the quote includes them.
For most homes, no. SCDES exempts the demolition of a private residence with four or fewer units, like a single-family house or a duplex. The exemption has limits, for example when the home comes down as part of a larger commercial or public project. A house once used for something other than a residence loses it too.
Commercial and public buildings fall under the rules, along with homes that lose the exemption. For those, SCDES requires an inspection report and a permit application at least 10 working days ahead. That holds even when the inspector finds no asbestos. Asbestos has to come out before demolition, with narrow exceptions, by contractors SCDES licenses for that work.
Even when the rules do not apply, the age of the building matters. SCDES says structures built before 1980 are the most likely to contain asbestos. It turns up in materials like siding, floor tiles, popcorn ceilings and roofing. A lab test of a sample can tell you for sure.
Beyond houses, we take down mobile homes with their porches and skirting. Sheds, barns, garages and carports come down on their own or with the house. Across Clarendon County, the Census Bureau counts about one home in three as a mobile home. Placing or replacing a manufactured home there takes a zoning certification and a county permit.
Storm-damaged structures come with extra steps. If an insurance claim is open, check with your adjuster before anything comes down. SCDES warns that disturbing asbestos-containing materials during storm cleanup can release fibers into the air. Storm work is still part of what we do.

After the final inspection, we cover the system and shape the ground so rain runs off. The state then issues its approval to operate.
